August 9th, 2009 · No Comments

Mayor Daley, defending the President of the Chicago Board of Education by saying it’s a, "same comment for journalism," when it was reported that Michael Scott is involved in a real estate project that could make him money if the city wins the Olympic bid.

Mayor Daley did not mince words when asked if the negative story about Michael Scott’s potential financial interest could cast a cloud over the city’s chances for 2016.

"Why would anybody write that story without checking the facts? You check the facts. He never had an interest. None whatsoever," Daley said.

The Tribune reported a Scott lead team had support from various alderman to develop city owned vacant lots near Douglas Park, which would also double as the cycling venue if Chicago is named the host city.

Scott tells Newsradio 780 he was working with ministers on affordable housing.

"There was never any profit in it for me. I was really, I thought of myself as doing a community service and it was all done a year before I was appointed to 2016," Scott said.
