Law firm founding partner acquires Lake Forest 5BD

David C. Hartwell and Amy C. Hartwell bought a five-bedroom, 3.5-bath home at 399 E. Deerpath Road in Lake Forest from Therese C. Sulentich for $1,038,450 on March 5.

Sulentich paid $1.05 million for the 4,008-square-foot house in Aug. 2005. It was built in 1909 in the neighborhood of Lake Forest East.

Mr. Hartwell is a founding partner in the law firm of Penland & Hartwell and is head of the litigation practice group. His practice is focused on representing condominium and homeowner associations, and small commercial businesses.

He previously was an attorney at Zurich Insurance Co. in its property liability group, and practiced law with a large insurance defense firm in Chicago. For seven years prior to practicing law, he was associated with the Prudential Insurance Co. in their Chicago and London offices.

He received his undergraduate degree in economics and Russian studies from Lake Forest College. He received his law degree from DePaul University (1998), where he concentrated in civil litigation.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 170 home sales in Lake Forest in the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $735,000.
