MillerCoors LLC has signed a long-term lease in a boutique Wacker Drive office building, where the beermaker will relocate its headquarters operations in June from Milwaukee and Colorado.
The joint venture of Molson Coors Brewing Co. and SABMiller PLC has signed a 15-year lease for about 129,000 square feet at 250 S. Wacker Drive, according to sources familiar with the transaction.
Amid concerns that the downtown office market may weaken, the lease is particularly well-timed for Boston investment firm AEW Capital Management L.P., which bought the mostly vacant, 247,000-square-foot building in 2007 for a top-dollar price of about $57 million.
MillerCoors, which announced in July that it would consolidate its headquarters operations in Chicago, has been in negotiations with AEW for more than a month.
